Sandbox (Surface)

Collecting samples of celestial objects can help us learn a lot about their composition and where they came from, but collecting samples from moving objects in space is not an easy task. The Kinetic Propulsion Sampling Device is a handheld device designed to collect surface samples under micro-gravity conditions with ease. The proposed design for collecting surface samples by utilizing a mechanical spring power to launch a projectile that will disrupt the surface layer of a sampling area and release an eject plume to be collected by the device.
